Intimate (and Teen) Partner Violence
The CDC defines intimate partner violence (IPV) as abuse or aggression that occurs in a romantic relationship. “Intimate partner” refers to both current and former spouses. Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is defined as dating violence that takes place in person, online, or through other means of technology.
There are four types of IPV & TDV
physical violence
sexual violence
stalking
psychological aggression.
On average 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience a form of IPV.
It is estimated that 1 in 12 High School teens experiences physical abuse, sexual abuse, or both.
